If anyone wanted proof positive that the modern-day Republican Party is now filled with a bunch of anti-science bleating, backwoods Hills Have Eyes politicos, one needs to look no further than this Brian Tyler Cohen post right here:
Yeah—you read it right.
Incidentally, these same lawmakers would make it illegal for someone like me, who is on heavy doses of immunosuppressants, to protect myself in public by wearing a mask. Why—? To catch lawbreakers trying to conceal their identities by covering their faces.
Okay, if that is the case, why remove health exemptions? And what about, say, barring the KKK from wearing masks in public? Is that still on the table too?
I guess I am gonna pull a Dave Chapelle’s Clayton Bigsby and join the KKK so I can stay safe in public.
Republicans keep claiming they are all about pro-life, but what life are they protecting?
Babies and mothers?
Not so fast…
All one has to do is hear the sad story of Willow’s Box, a Biden-sponsored political ad, to see the GOP gives two shits about babies and moms. The ad itself, posted below, highlights the absurdity and cruelty of Texas Republican policies that target childbearing folks, placing them in harm’s way with laws that put women at risk of infertility and death.
The heartwrenching video details the horrors of losing not only a child but also the nightmare that occurred after the couple’s inability to get a routine D and C when their baby girl died at 18 weeks.
I had a similar experience with my first pregnancy, although my little one died at 14 weeks. The D and C saved my life. But because Texas has decided D and Cs are barbaric, they will not allow them in even in the most no-brainer cases.
This, of course, led to trips to the ER as the aforementioned woman almost died twice from sepsis-related complications due to—you guessed it, not being able to get a post-miscarriage D and C.
Does that sound like a recipe for creating more “life” to you?
It seems a bit counterintuitive, if you ask me, especially considering what they value most—healthy young White child-bearing women with birthin’ hips. It seems they would be protecting them at all costs.
And what about the children, the ones the GOP says they hate to see being groomed? The ones they all want to protect from dah gays and drag queens?
New Republican child labor laws
Now, when I look at the bigger picture here, I almost get Republicans wanting to kill Black females like me off. Thin the herd, get rid of the weak, so to speak—and a woman of color?
Yeah, back of the bus, lady, or better yet, here’s your tombstone.
What about the children they scream about wanting to save whenever anyone is trying to lead fun, fulfilling lives, and they need a bludgeoning tool to get their way in Congress?
Well, the GOP wants to get them working as fast as they can and married as young as age nine in some states—because GROOMERS and all that!
And lunch?
“Fuck that—let the little bastard starve—I’ll lose money for every second they are eating a healthy meal!”
Say what?
Is there even a coherent strategy or message here, or are modern Republicans just so crazy and immoral that they will go wherever the wind blows for a buck?
I am betting on the latter.
Speaking of billionaire blowhards who lack morals, there is also another case to be made for the weird eugenics BS happening here.
Elon Musk's Worker Bee Strategy
Like most Republicans, Elon Musk has bemoaned the decline of births and shrinking populations, but he is saying the quiet part out loud—“We need more gris for the mill, I mean, workers.”
And apparently, we need them desperate, willing to accept abuse, and needy.
Musk wants us all to work 100-hour work weeks, for crying out loud! You know, so he can buy another super yacht and keep not paying his child support.
Man is his schtick working on the clueless!
I have seen people cry rivers of blood over how poor, poor billionaire Elon is being treated on dah Twitter. These same folks, most of whom would likely get no higher in life than manager at a Piggly Wiggly, would barely catch a glance, smile, or ounce of sympathy from Elmo.
So yeah, sorry, Michael Popok and Ben Meiselas, I hate to disagree with yah, but—what we are seeing is not some MAGA mutation springing from the more decent and caring Republican way of life.
What we are seeing is what Republicans always were.
Cruelty, corrupt politics, and greed were always their point.
If Trump loses, and fingers, toes, and eyes crossed that he does, conservatives will simply go back to the coded language they used in the past to appeal to bigots. Ya know, the kind of folks who preface their racism with “I am not racist but…” so they can claim plausible deniability and scream Black folks are playing the race card.
I'm not sure which climate is worse for minorities and POC, but I will say this—voting for Republicans is voting to punch your own face in the face.
Vote Blue.
